BAIT's
Fifteenth Annual Total ASL Immersion Weekend

February 21-23, 2014
Shocco Springs
Talladega, AL

Birmingham Area Interpreter Training, Inc. (BAIT, Inc.) is planning for the Fifteenth Annual Total ASL Immersion Weekend to be an incredible learning experience! This year’s workshop will be held at Shocco Springs. We have reserved both hilltop buildings to provide plenty of convenient rooms and ample parking.

Kayleen Pugh will be joined by expert instructors providing their expertise for all to enjoy. We are proud to announce presenter Faith Powell one of our most popular presenters from Atlanta, Georgia will be returning to immersion this year. Faith will be accompanied by another popular presenter, Donna Flanders, and the first time appearance of Chris McGaha, from the Birmingham area. Rocky and Georgia, two of our great Deaf instructors, will return to work with the beginner group for an enjoyable learning experience.

We are excited to present Patrick (Mr. Shineyhead) Fischer who will be providing both entertainment and instruction for this year’s immersion workshop. Patrick is involved in a variety of artistic positions (artist, board member, actor, director, producer, and consultant) as well as participation in a variety of performances (storytelling, poetry, emcee, skits, and comedy) all around the nation and Canada.
We'll have various workshops designed to appeal to all kinds of interpreting including: educational, freelance, interpreter training students, and advanced signers with an interest in interpreting. There will also be a novice level class so any level of signer can benefit from this weekend of training.

We’re starting this year’s weekend with a workshop from 2 PM to 4PM on Friday afternoon to provide an educational experience for our early bird participants. This session will be followed by registration, dinner, and fun-filled activities on Friday night. Saturday’s full schedule offers: workshops, a silent dinner with some of the Deaf community, fun activities and games with some of the Deaf instructors. An early afternoon departure on Sunday should allow time for everyone to arrive home in a timely manner.

An information packet with map and further instructions will be sent to you after your registration form and money is received. You can find more information about Shocco Springs by going to their website at www.shocco.org.
Don’t miss this ideal professional development opportunity to enhance your skills, earn CEUs, meet and interact with colleagues, learn something new, and be entertained!
